Bio
Kasango, born Kasmario Thulani Ike Fankis in Welkom, Free State, is an Afro-house DJ and producer who treats the genre as a songwriter's medium — melodic, vocal-led, built for radio as much as for the club. He started making music at sixteen and formalised the craft in 2010 with studies in Advanced Music Production and Music Business at the Soul Candi Institute of Music.
'Osama', released with Zakes Bantwini in September 2021, changed his standing overnight: 12 consecutive weeks atop the RAMS airplay chart, a four-times-platinum certification, Best Collaboration at the 2022 South African Music Awards and the SAMRO Highest Radio Airplay Composer award. He has kept the momentum with 'Sikelela' alongside TNS and Bukeka (2022) and 'Dance for Me' with Julia Church (2023). In 2026, 'Fire Fire' won Song of the Year at the Miami Electronic Dance Music Awards, confirming an audience well beyond South Africa.
