Mthandeni SK — Igcokama Elisha to his audience — is Mthandeni Sibusiso Manqele, born in 1988 in Mtubatuba, northern KwaZulu-Natal. He debuts in 2013 with the album Sibiza Abadlwane and builds a catalogue of twelve studio albums by 2024, working in maskandi's fast, danceable 'woolies' sub-genre and pioneering its collaborations with singers from outside the tradition.

'Paris', with Lwah Ndlunkulu, rewrites the genre's ceiling: multi-platinum, over 28 million Spotify streams, and — at the 30th SAMAs in November 2024 — the first Record of the Year ever won by a maskandi artist.
