Oscar Mbo — Oscar Mbongeni Ndlovu, born in Pretoria in 1990 and raised in Kriel, Mpumalanga — deals in deep and soulful house, a warmer, more patient strain of dance music than the amapiano around it. He debuted with the Life & Love EP in September 2019, followed quickly by the album Golden Power, and built his audience through The Ashmed Hour, the podcast he still hosts.
For The Groovists (2020) earned nominations at the 27th SAMAs, including Best Dance Album and Male Artist of the Year, and Mohigan Sun (2022) is certified double platinum. Part of the Golden Boys Entertainment collective, he released iMali in 2024, took a GQ best-dressed award the same year, and with Jazzworx and vocalist Thukuthela made Vuka — a number one across South Africa's streaming platforms that entered Shazam's global Top 50.
JAZZWRLD and Thukuthela’s BET Awards presence was not about collecting a trophy. It was about 3-Step becoming visible in global media rooms while carrying its South African centre with it.
