Shebeshxt is a central figure in lekompo, the fast, raw dance music of Limpopo. Born Lehlogonolo Katlego Chauke and raised in Lebowakgomo, he began releasing music in 2021 and broke through when 'Ke Di Shxt Malume' went viral on TikTok, drawing an early co-sign from Focalistic. He built his catalogue — Topless Shxta's Journey Vols 1 and 2, and My Music My Story (2024) — without label, radio or television backing.

The past two years have been turbulent. In June 2024 his nine-year-old daughter died in a crash involving his car in Limpopo. In 2025 he signed a distribution deal with Virgin Music Group, but was arrested in Polokwane that November on 20 charges, including attempted murder, and denied bail in December. While in custody he received two 2026 SAMA nominations, Record of the Year and Music Video of the Year, for 'Rato Laka'; the case has been postponed to September 2026.
