Bio
Themba is Themba Mbongeni Nkosi, born in Mpumalanga in 1983 and raised on his father's Marvin Gaye and Hugh Masekela records. He began DJing in his late teens, joined youth station YFM in 2004 and national broadcaster 5FM in 2006, and spent more than a decade as one of South Africa's best-known house DJs under the name Euphonik. In 2017 he retired the alias to perform as Themba, running house warmth through techno architecture.
The 2018 single 'Who Is Themba?' answered its own question: championed early by Black Coffee, it charted on Beatport for 18 months and carried him to Ultra Music Festival and back-to-back Ibiza DJ Awards nominations. His debut album Modern Africa Volume 1 (Ekhaya), released on Armada Music in 2021, set vocalists from across the continent against strings recorded at Abbey Road. For the 2026 Ibiza season he is billed across several Hï Ibiza residencies.
