Artist

Daliwonga

Daliwonga, born 4 June 1994 in Diepkloof, Soweto, came up as a backing vocalist before amapiano gave his melodic instincts a home. Emerging in 2019 and signing to DJ Maphorisa's BlaqBoy Music, he broke through on 'Tester' with King Monada, and his writing — call-and-response hooks built for the dancefloor — has made him one of the genre's busiest pens, with 137 songwriter credits logged in the African Music Library. He released two projects in 2020, Uyang'testa and Chameleon, working with Kabza De Small, Sha Sha and Tyler ICU, and 'Abo Mvelo' with Mellow & Sleazy became a signature record. Dali Dali (2023), a twelve-track album released through New Money Gang Records under Sony Music Entertainment Africa, gathered guests from Nkosazana Daughter to Tyla and confirmed his move from featured voice to bandleader.
