Dumi Mkokstad is one of South African gospel's most decorated traditional faith voices. Born Mdumiseni Nzimande in Cabazana, Mount Ayliff, in the Eastern Cape, he grows up in Kokstad, the town echoed in his stage name, where music takes root from the age of nine. At the 16th Crown Gospel Music Awards he is among the most-nominated artists across five categories and takes Best Gospel Songwriter for 'Vumbelimnandi'. Songs such as 'Ziphozenkosi' and 'Ungayeki Ukuthandaza' anchor a catalogue that stays rooted in the church.
