Heavy K is Mkhululi Siqula, an Afro-house producer and DJ from Veeplaas in Gqeberha, known across South Africa as the Drumboss. He was producing as a schoolboy — at 16 he made 'Lento' for house vocalist Professor — and moved to Johannesburg in 2013, the year his debut album Respect the Drumboss 2013 arrived through his own label, Drumboss Musik. His signature is weighted, insistent drum programming underneath big vocal hooks. The certifications are substantial: 'Inde', with Bucie and Nokwazi, is six-times platinum, and 'Uyeke', with Natalia Mabaso, is platinum. In 2023 he took on South Africa's emerging 3-step sound at album length with Respect the Drumboss (3-Step Edition), following in 2024 with The Anointed and the DJ Tira collaboration 'Inkululeko'. In December 2025 he released The Blueprint, a ten-track album on Drumboss Musik — one of the steadiest release schedules in South African house, still running.
