Maglera Doe Boy

Maglera Doe Boy, born Tokelo Moyakhe, raps motswako from the inside: raised in Kanana township in the North West, he started rapping at 10, mentored by the genre's architects Towdeemac, Khuli Chana and Kay Gee of Morafe. His debut EP Progression arrived in 2015, and his writing has stayed rooted in township detail — dense, cinematic storytelling carried on motswako's bilingual Setswana-English cadence. The breakthrough was borrowed velocity: his verse on MashBeatz's Never Ride went viral on TikTok, bringing a Universal Music deal through Khuli Chana's Mythrone Records imprint. His debut album Diaspora (2022) coincided with Best Male Artist and Best Remix at the South African Hip Hop Awards and an Apple Music Up Next selection. Maglera Tapes followed in 2024, and in 2025 he earned a BET Awards nomination for Best New International Act, alongside compatriots TxC and Dlala Thukzin.
