Mörda

Mörda is Bongani Mohosana, a Pretoria-born drummer and producer who spent more than a decade as Murdah Bongz, one half of Black Motion, the percussion-driven house duo he co-founded in 2009. Musically grounded in church choir, he helped carry Black Motion to national prominence after their 2011 album Talking to the Drums before stepping out alone. His solo work keeps the drum at the centre, folding Afro-house into the slower, roomier pulse of 3-step. Since 2022 he has released three albums on his own Asante Music label — Asante, named for his daughter, Asante II and 2025's Asante III — plus the CR4ZY EP in 2024, with 'Mohigan Sun' certified double platinum along the way. In 2024 he shared a NAACP Image Award for the soundtrack compilation of The Color Purple, and in 2025 he collected a Metro FM Music Award for Best Styled Artist.
