Spirit Of Praise
Spirit of Praise is a Johannesburg gospel collective built around the live recording as an event. Established in 2008 by Aubrey Peacock and Matthew Nkabinde under the Spirit Music Group, it debuts with a two-volume set taped at the Pretoria State Theatre and grows into a rotating roster of more than 40 soloists, among them Benjamin Dube, Dumi Mkokstad and Solly Mahlangu. The sound is massed praise and worship, recorded before arena-sized congregations. Eleven live volumes follow, through Volume 11 in June 2025. Volumes 4, 6 and 7 each take the SAMA for Best Traditional Faith Music Album, alongside Crown Gospel wins for Best Gospel Group and Best Praise Song. In 2023 the recordings move from Carnival City to Pretoria's SunBet Arena to hold larger audiences, and by 2024 the collective ranks among the 100 most-streamed gospel artists worldwide on Spotify. Dube departs for independent ministry in April 2025.
