Trevor Noah

Trevor Noah is born in Johannesburg in 1984 to a Xhosa mother and a Swiss-German father, a union then illegal under apartheid and the premise of his memoir Born a Crime. Raised in Soweto, he starts in South African television and radio in 2002, takes up stand-up at 21 on a dare, and works his way through SABC programmes to his own late-night show, Tonight with Trevor Noah. He succeeds Jon Stewart on The Daily Show in September 2015 and hosts until December 2022, collecting two Primetime Emmy Awards and a place on Time's 2018 list of the 100 most influential people. Born a Crime (2016) tops the New York Times bestseller list. He hosts the Grammy Awards six years running, 2021 through 2026, fronts the Spotify podcast What Now? with Trevor Noah, publishes Into the Uncut Grass in 2024, and keeps touring stand-up between engagements.
