Artificial Intelligence Policy

How Viranova may use AI in a supporting role — and our commitment that every story is written, reviewed, and approved by humans.

Last updated: 28 June 2026

Applies to: Viranova, Viranova Trend Room, and Viranova public-facing content

At Viranova, we believe technology should support creativity, not replace responsibility. Artificial intelligence may be used in limited ways within our workflow, but our journalism, storytelling, and editorial voice are entirely human-created.

All Viranova stories are written by humans. They are not generated by AI.

This Artificial Intelligence Policy explains how Viranova may use AI in a supporting role, how we review AI-assisted processes, and what we will not use AI for.

1. Our Position on AI

Viranova may use AI tools to improve workflow, organise information, and support internal processes.

However, AI does not replace human creativity or editorial judgment.

AI is not treated as a journalist, writer, editor, source, photographer, designer, legal adviser, fact-checker, or decision-maker.

Every Viranova article, feature, and story is written by a human.

Our commitment is clear:

AI may assist behind the scenes, but all published stories are human-written, human-reviewed, and human-approved.

2. How We May Use AI

Viranova may use AI for limited and responsible purposes, including:

  • organising notes, research, and editorial drafts;
  • assisting with summaries of public or supplied material;
  • supporting transcription, translation, and subtitle workflows;
  • generating internal outlines, checklists, and planning documents.

AI may help us work more efficiently, but it does not write our stories.

3. Editorial Accuracy and Fact-Checking

Viranova does not treat AI as a factual source.

AI may assist in organising research and information collected by humans, but it does not replace verification or reporting.

All facts, claims, and details in Viranova stories are checked and confirmed by human editors before publication.

Before publishing, Viranova aims to verify:

  • names;
  • dates;
  • places;
  • titles;
  • quotes;
  • statistics;
  • links;
  • event details;
  • public claims;
  • allegations;
  • legal or reputationally sensitive information;
  • source context.

AI may assist with organisation, but it does not create or verify journalism.

4. Human Editorial Responsibility

Every article, caption, visual, newsletter, podcast description, public statement, or other published item is created and approved by Viranova's human editorial team.

No story is published unless it has been written and reviewed by a human.

Before publication, content is reviewed for:

  • factual accuracy;
  • fairness;
  • tone;
  • originality;
  • copyright risk;
  • privacy risk;
  • possible bias;
  • harmful stereotypes;
  • misleading wording;
  • fabricated or unsupported claims.

AI cannot publish content. Humans do.

5. Disclosure of AI Use

Viranova believes in transparency.

Where AI has played a meaningful supporting role in production processes, we may disclose that use to readers.

However, this does not change our core principle:

All editorial stories are written by humans, not AI.

AI support does not create final editorial prose. Any reader-facing editorial wording is written, rewritten where needed, checked, and approved by people.

Disclosure may be used where AI has materially assisted with:

  • translation support for human-reviewed text;
  • internal context notes or non-published explainers;
  • structural support;
  • data organisation;
  • format adaptation that a human rewrites and approves.

Minor uses, such as grammar checks or formatting, may not require disclosure.

Where appropriate, Viranova may use notices such as:

"Editorial note: AI tools assisted with structure or production support. Viranova reviewed, verified, and approved the final content."

"Translation note: This text was translated with AI assistance and reviewed before publication."

6. Real People, Likeness, and Synthetic Media

Viranova will not knowingly use AI to impersonate, defame, embarrass, exploit, sexualise, or misrepresent any real person.

AI must not be used to create fake quotes, fake interviews, fake appearances, fake endorsements, fake screenshots, fake social media posts, fake audio, fake video, or fake evidence involving real people.

All reporting involving real individuals is handled by human writers using verified sources.

Synthetic media must never be used to deceive the public.

7. Privacy and Personal Information

Viranova respects privacy and personal information.

We do not permit the careless uploading of private, confidential, or sensitive personal information into AI tools.

This includes:

  • private contact details;
  • unpublished interviews;
  • confidential correspondence;
  • source information;
  • internal documents;
  • login details;
  • personal information of contributors, partners, readers, or the public;
  • information relating to children or minors;
  • sensitive legal, financial, or business information.

Where AI is used in a workflow, we aim to minimise and protect personal data.

8. Children and Young People

Viranova may cover youth culture, young creatives, schools, students, and emerging talent with care and responsibility.

AI must not be used to exploit, manipulate, expose, or misrepresent children or young people.

All stories involving minors are handled by human editors with attention to dignity, safety, consent, and privacy.

9. Copyright, Ownership, and Creative Integrity

Viranova does not use AI as a shortcut for plagiarism.

AI must not be used to copy another publication's work, imitate another creator unfairly, remove watermarks, bypass licensing rules, recreate protected characters, generate fake logos, or disguise copied material as original work.

All Viranova stories are original, human-written content.

AI-assisted processes must still respect:

  • copyright;
  • trademarks;
  • image rights;
  • moral rights;
  • privacy rights;
  • creator rights;
  • Viranova's intellectual property;
  • partner and sponsor brand rules.

10. Sponsored, Commercial, and Partner Content

If AI is used in supporting roles within sponsored content or campaigns, Viranova ensures that all messaging remains accurate, clearly labelled, and not misleading.

AI must not be used to create false product claims, fake endorsements, fake event attendance, fake partnerships, or inaccurate brand representation.

All sponsored editorial content is written and approved by humans. See our Sponsored Content Policy.

11. What We Will Not Use AI For

Viranova will not knowingly use AI to:

  • write or generate full editorial stories for publication;
  • fabricate stories, sources, interviews, quotes, statistics, screenshots, or evidence;
  • publish fake news;
  • impersonate real people;
  • mislead readers about what happened;
  • create fake endorsements or partnerships;
  • publish AI-generated images as real photographs;
  • plagiarise another creator or publication;
  • expose confidential or personal information;
  • make final editorial decisions without human review;
  • deceive readers, partners, advertisers, contributors, or the public.

12. Corrections and Accountability

If AI-assisted processes contribute to an error, Viranova will handle the matter under its Correction Policy and Editorial Standards.

Depending on the issue, Viranova may:

  • correct the content;
  • update the article;
  • add an editor's note;
  • issue a clarification;
  • retract content where necessary;
  • review the workflow that caused the error.

Responsibility always remains with the human editorial team.

13. Reader Questions and Concerns

Readers, contributors, partners, or members of the public may raise concerns about AI use, accuracy, privacy, or misleading content connected to Viranova.

Concerns may be submitted through Viranova's official contact channels — see our Contact page.

Where a concern is reasonable and specific, Viranova will review it and take appropriate action.

14. Our Public Commitment

Viranova may use AI in limited, supportive ways, but it does not define our journalism.

Our stories are written by people, not machines.

Our work remains guided by:

  • human judgment;
  • factual care;
  • cultural responsibility;
  • originality;
  • privacy;
  • transparency;
  • respect for creators;
  • respect for the people and communities we cover.

AI can support the process.

It does not write the story.

Viranova remains human-led.
