Editorial Process
The pipeline a Viranova story moves through before and after it is published.
Every Viranova story moves through a clear pipeline. The steps below describe how a story goes from an idea to a published, accountable article.
1. Idea or assignment
A story begins as an idea, a tip, an assignment, or a submission to a desk.
2. Research and source gathering
The writer gathers information from announcements, interviews, public records, events, and other sources, and records where each claim comes from.
3. Drafting
The article is written with its category, content type, and intended sources in mind.
4. Editorial review
An editor reviews the draft for accuracy, fairness, clarity, and adherence to our Editorial Standards.
5. Fact check and verification
Key claims are verified against their sources. Unverified material is removed, attributed, or clearly flagged.
6. Image credit and rights check
Every image is checked for a credit and a usable rights status before it is published.
7. Final edit
The article is given a final read for headline accuracy, labelling, and presentation.
8. Publication
The story is published with a visible date and time, a byline or desk, and the appropriate content-type label.
9. Post-publication corrections or updates
If new information or an error emerges, the article is corrected or updated, with a visible note where the change is significant.
