Viranova

How We Report

How Viranova chooses, verifies, sources, labels, and corrects its coverage.

This page explains, in plain language, how Viranova works — from choosing a story to correcting it after publication.

Story selection

We cover South African music, entertainment, internet culture, artists, creatives, events and the public conversation around them. We prioritise stories that are accurate, relevant, and in the public or cultural interest over stories that are merely viral.

Verification

Before publishing, we check claims against the best sources available — official announcements, named statements, direct interviews, public records, and on-the-ground attendance. Where a claim cannot be verified, we say so or we do not publish it.

Sources and attribution

We attribute information to its source and link to original material where possible. Some articles include a public Sources & context note. We do not invent sources, quotes, or events.

Interviews

Interviews are conducted by Viranova and may be edited for clarity and length without changing meaning. Interview-based articles are labelled as interviews.

Press releases

Articles built mainly on a supplied announcement are edited by Viranova and identified as based on an official announcement. A press release is a starting point, not the final word.

Opinion and analysis

Opinion reflects the writer's viewpoint and is labelled Opinion. Analysis is editorial interpretation grounded in facts and is labelled Analysis. Neither is presented as straight news reporting.

Sponsored content

Paid or partner-funded work is labelled Sponsored and governed by our Sponsored Content Policy. It is kept visibly separate from independent editorial coverage.

Corrections and updates

When we get something wrong, we fix it. Material corrections are noted on the article and, where significant, recorded in our public Corrections log. See our Correction Policy for how to request a correction.

AI-assisted workflow

We may use AI-assisted tools for support tasks such as transcription, research organisation, and design. We do not use AI to invent facts, quotes, or sources, and editorial claims are reviewed by people before publication. See our AI Policy for detail.
