Comic Con Africa has announced that Ian Cardoni, Harry Belden and Spencer Grammer, the actors behind Rick Sanchez, Morty Smith and Summer Smith, will appear at the 2026 festival.
The trio are scheduled to attend from Thursday, 24 September to Saturday, 26 September, covering the first three days of the four-day convention. Comic Con Africa runs until Sunday, 27 September at the Johannesburg Expo Centre in Nasrec. All three actors are listed among the convention’s official international film and television guests.
Their arrival offers South African audiences a rare opportunity to meet the performers responsible for three of modern animation’s most recognisable voices.
Three voices. One spectacularly dysfunctional family.
Ian Cardoni voices the brilliant, volatile and frequently intoxicated scientist Rick Sanchez. Cardoni entered the role at the beginning of the show’s seventh season, bringing his own performance to a character whose voice, interruptions and unpredictable emotional shifts have become central to the series.
Beyond Rick and Morty, his voice has appeared across animation, television promotions, commercials and games, including MultiVersus, where he reprised the role of Rick.
Harry Belden has voiced Morty Smith since 2023. Morty’s nervous optimism often places him in direct contrast with his grandfather’s cynicism, although years of interdimensional disasters have gradually made the teenager more confident, complicated and occasionally just as dangerous.
Belden’s performance carries the anxiety, sincerity and emotional vulnerability that prevent Morty from becoming merely Rick’s reluctant assistant.
Spencer Grammer completes the visiting Smith family trio as Summer Smith, Morty’s sarcastic and increasingly adventure-ready older sister. Grammer has voiced Summer throughout the show and is also known for playing Casey Cartwright in the television comedy-drama Greek.
Together, Cardoni, Belden and Grammer form part of the current ensemble behind a series that remains one of adult animation’s defining titles. The Television Academy records six Emmy nominations and two wins for Rick and Morty, with the show receiving another Outstanding Animated Program nomination in 2026.

Their Comic Con Africa appearances will extend beyond simply walking onto a stage and waving to the crowd.
The actors are expected to participate in live panel discussions exploring their careers, creative processes and experiences working on Rick and Morty. Fans will also have opportunities to ask questions and hear stories about performing characters whose expressions must be created almost entirely through sound.
Autograph sessions and professional photograph opportunities will give attendees a more personal encounter with the actors. These experiences require separate bookings in addition to general convention admission, according to the event announcement.
