Awards & Recognition
The Viranova Awards, and the editorial standards and accountability Viranova holds itself to.
Viranova recognises South African culture through the Viranova Awards, and holds its own work to recognised standards of editorial accountability.
The Viranova Awards
The Viranova Awards celebrate South African music, artists, creatives, and cultural moments. Nominations and voting open through the awards programme — see the Viranova Awards page for the current cycle, categories, and how to take part.
How recognition works
Awards coverage and nominations are handled with the same standards as the rest of our journalism: clear criteria, transparency about how shortlists and winners are reached, and clear separation between editorial recognition and any sponsored or commercial involvement.
Our editorial standards
Viranova aims to align its editorial practice with recognised South African journalism principles — accuracy, fairness, context, correction of errors, and a clear separation between editorial and commercial content. These are set out in our Editorial Standards and Ethics.
Viranova is not a member of the Press Council and does not claim any external certification, membership, or award it has not received. We publish our standards openly so readers, partners, and award judges can hold us to them.
